Susan Sonley of Grubb & Ellis was named as the recipient of the Brendan McCarthy Memorial Award by the Greater Washington Commercial Association of REALTORS^® (GWCAR). Sonley received the award at the Twelfth Annual Commercial Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 19 at the Four Season in Georgetown. The award is presented by Transwestern Commercial Services and each year is given to a GWCAR member who exhibits excellence in community service and charitable efforts.

In honor of Susan Sonley, GWCAR donated $2000 to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, a charity that Sonley has worked tirelessly with over the past few years. A 12-year breast cancer survivor herself, she has been one of the top fundraisers for breast cancer research since she became involved with the Komen National Race for the Cure. Susan has also joined the fight against prostate cancer, and has helped plan the National Capital Golf Classic over the past ten years.
