Awards Honor Fight For Voting Rights

DC Vote held its annual Champions of Democracy Awards Reception October 14 at the new City Museum of Washington, DC.

Hundreds attended the event, which honored community activists Phil and Jan Fenty, philanthropist and DC voting rights advocate Jack Olender, Esq., and the District's first mayor, the Honorable Walter E. Washington. Mayor Anthony A. Williams, Shadow Representative Ray Browne and Councilman Kevin Chavous were in attendance.

The reception featured a "Taste of the Community" as local restaurants such as Austin Grill, Chef Geoff's, Georgia Brown's and Saki offered samples of their delicious culinary delights. GWCAR and WDCAR sponsored the event.
