Member Spotlight

Marty Almquist was recently named Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the metropolitan Washington, DC area offices of Grubb & Ellis. She has been with the company since 1986.

Douglas Fleit was promoted to Executive Vice President for Cushman & Wakefield in McLean, Va.

Michael Katcher was promoted to the position of Senior Director at Cushman & Wakefield's Washington, DC office.

David Stern was promoted to Vice President of Development for Karchem Properties.

Debra Yogodzinski of Nixon Peabody LLP was appointed co-chair of the retail business development committee of the District of Columbia Building Industry Association.

Jones Lang LaSalle moved their Washington, DC offices into the Army Navy Club Building located at 1627 Eye Street NW, Eighth Floor. Along with the moving shuffle Michael Ellis was promoted to managing director of the DC office. Jeff Groh was named to executive vice president and Gay Shackelford was promoted to senior vice president.

Akridge was selected by the Human Rights Campaign to provide property management services to their new headquarters building at 1640 Rhode Island Avenue NW in Washington, DC. HRC moved into the new building May 5.

1800 K Street NW, an Akridge managed building, was named Office Building of the Year in the northeast region by the Building Owners and Managers Association and has been submitted for the international TOBY award competition.

Akridge has received the Real Estate Award for Excellence for the fourth year in a row from CEL & Associates for providing the best property management service in the nation among companies of its size. CEL is the largest surveyor of tenant satisfaction in the nation and has partnered with BOMA to set industry standards of performance.

Insignia/ESG recently announced the execution of a 282,000 sf leasing transaction at Two Freedom Square with The Titan Corporation, headquartered in San Diego. This is the largest leasing transaction ever in Reston Town Center core. Rob Faktorow, Executive Managing Director of Insignia/ESG's Tysons Corner office, Jim Hughes, Managing Director of Insignia/ESG's San Diego office and John Kerr, Senior Managing Director of Insignia/ESG's DC office, represented Titan in the transaction.

On May 23, Insignia/ ESG announced the sale of The Summit Building at 8555 16th Street in Silver Spring for $8.25 Million. Rick Siegel, David Machlin, Jim Cahill and Paul Hanafin of Insignia/ESG Capital Advisors Group represented the seller Minshall Stewart Properties in the sale of this 80,650 sq. ft. building to Peel Properties, Inc.
