Remarks from the President

Having surpassed the half-way point in my term as President, it is exciting to report that GWCAR is as active as each of you are! Even better, I can boast that we are successfully building our monetary reserves for the second year in a row! This will enable GWCAR to continue to grow and expand our services to the brokerage community.

Along those lines, Scott Johnston and I attended the National Association of REALTORS^® (NAR) mid-year meeting here in Washington, DC. Technically, NAR is GWCAR's "parent" organization. We fall under the umbrella of the organization and, as a member of GWCAR, you are a member of NAR. The NAR is focused on expanding its services for its commercial brokerage members - thereby attracting additional commercial members. This is good news for us as members and we are supporting their efforts to provide us with additional resources.

One example of NAR's commitment is their upcoming seminar called TransAct - the Commercial Real Estate Business Conference in Chicago, September 14th-15th. Both Scott and I are looking forward to hearing Sam Zell and many other leading professionals discuss industry issues.

In case you missed June's RealTour (another sold out event) and thought we took the summer off, our fall program is full of networking and educational opportunities, see the schedule below. As always, we continue to look for better ways to serve you and our industry. I welcome any comments/suggestions you may have for improvement.
