Cassidy & Pinkard Continues Fight Against Brain Cancer

Pat Cassidy, co-founder of Cassidy & Pinkard and long-time GWCAR member, died June 29 after a long struggle with brain cancer.

In addition to his business successes, Pat was particularly known in the GWCAR community for his commitment to mentoring young brokers. In light of his work in this area, Pat was awarded the Brendan McCarthy Award for 1999.

Pat formed Cassidy & Pinkard in 1981 along with Robert Pinkard.  The firm has grown to 150 employees and currently manages 4.5 million square feet of office space in the Washington area. Pat got his start in the real estate business in the 1970s at the Braedon Co. before joining Barnes, Morris, & Pardoe to start the office-leasing department.

Pat was a native Washingtonian and was actively involved in his community. He was a former president of the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and a former board member of the Greater Washington Boys and Girls Club. He was also a member of the Washington Rugby Football Club and the Izaak Walton League.

 

Cassidy & Pinkard Continues to Fight Brain Cancer

Since Pat’s diagnosis two years ago, Cassidy & Pinkard has been the title sponsor of the Brain Tumor Society 5K Run and Walk in Washington. In those two years, the event has been successful in raising nearly $500,000 to support brain tumor research.

Cassidy & Pinkard will again be the title sponsor of the race in April 2002 and is grateful for the continued support of the Commercial Real Estate community of the Washington metropolitan area.

Brain tumor research is critically under funded. The Brain Tumor Society, founded in 1992, is a national nonprofit organization, which has allocated over $3 million to advance carefully selected scientific research projects.
