DC Region Breakfast Meetings

If you’re not attending the DC monthly breakfast meetings you are missing a lot, and I mean a lot. In December, the topic was the “F Street Retail Renaissance” but the real theme was East End retail real estate. The panel consisted of John Asadoorian, Len Harris and David DeCamp. The names of buildings such as 901, 930, 975 and 1201 F Street came to mind, but so did Lincoln Square, the Arnold & Porter Building, the National Press Building, Metropolitan Square and Garfinkels. John Asadoorian likened the former retail real estate market in our Nation’s Capital to “a hole in the middle of a doughnut.” Not so anymore. Retailers from The Gap to Oceana to Barnes & Noble are the new leases of the new millennium.

As old onlookers observe from the sidelines, in both wonder and amazement, the previous retailers reposture their position in the marketplace while new retailers clamor for presence. Like I said, if you missed it, you missed a lot. The topics for the first few months of 2000 included “101 Constitution & 1001 New York Ave” presented by Studley and UDG in January; “901 New York Ave., & 1399 New York Ave” presented by Cushman, Monument, & Grubb in February; and the March 2nd breakfast featured “BOMA Measurements”.

The DC Region Breakfast meetings are held at the Club at Franklin Square. For further details, support or underwriting opportunities, please contact GWCAR at (202) 887-6213.
