Maryland Advertising Regulations
Revised advertising regulations go into effect in Maryland on October 1. Plan now to make sure your ads are compliant. The following must be “meaningfully and conspicuously” included in all advertisements:
- The name or trade name of the licensed real estate salesperson or licensed associate real estate broker, as the name or trade name appears on the license certificate and pocket card issued by the commission.
- The name of the business with which the licensed real estate salesperson or licensed associate real estate broker is affiliated in a size that is at least as large as the size of the name or trade name of the licensed real estate salesperson or licensed associate real estate broker. The full name of the business must be used and not a logo used by the business.
- The Maryland Real Estate Commission has recently approved a new regulation which will require associate brokers and salespersons who use an individual telephone number or e-mail address in their advertising to also include in the advertisement the identified telephone number of the broker or branch office manager. The commissioners believe that many issues can be resolved with the assistance of the broker or branch office manger and that this requirement will make it easier for that assistance to be obtained.
